- The RainDance Water Systems
WH-RO installation instructions and maintenance procedure listed
on this webpage are provided to give our customers an understanding
of the ease of installing and maintaining our water treatment
products. Moreover, our WH-RO Series RO systems are pretested
before shipping, user friendly, and components are shipped pre-plumbed
on the skid and in most cases unit only requires a 120 volt 1
phase 60 Hz power source or 230 volt single or three phase power
source at customer option. Our WH-RO state of the art skid mount reverse
osmosis is plumbed and pre wired in most cases with one inlet
connection, one drain connection, one water use connection, and
one electrical connection to allow for fast hassle free installation.
From the delivery of the equipment to your home or facility to
the set up and use of water - In hours not days!
-
- Disclaimer: These are basic sample instructions
for our WH-RO Series and are intended for reference only. Installation
and maintenance can vary. Each WH-RO unit will have their own
customized instructions specific to each customer. If your system
is designed with custom or special features such as PLC controller,
pH correction, 220v, antiscalant pretreatment, or other we will
include additional installation instructions.
-
-
- 1. Preliminary.
a. Please review the hydraulic and electrical diagrams that have
been supplied.
b. Save the enclosed information on all of the components and
devices (meters, pumps, switches, etc) that have been supplied.
They may need referral to for making adjustments and also for
service and replacement in the future.
c. Be sure that the unit is paced in an area where freezing will
not occur and that is not in direct sunlight.
d. Place unit on a hard level surface that will support a wet
weight (exclusive of storage tanks) of 1,000 pounds.
e. Place unit within 20 feet horizontal and 10 feet vertical
of a drain that is to all applicable local codes and can withstand
a constant water flow of 5.0 USGPM without overflow.
f. Place unit within 10 feet of a fused 120 volt 1 phase 60 Hz
power supply adequate for 15 amps with everything running. Another
plug-in 120 volt outlet is also needed. This will supply power
to the Maxi-cure and to the UV light.
g. A water supply to the unit must be available that has the
following characteristics:
1. Flow of 5.0 GPM at a pressure of 20 to 60 PSI.
2. Temperature from 40 to 100 degrees F.
3. Hardness, pH and alkalinity combined for a Langelier's Saturation
Index not to exceed +1.6 OR softened water.
4. No iron bacteria.
5. Only trace amounts of Hydrogen Sulfide.
- h. Place storage tanks with
a minimum 1" diameter bottom outlet within 5 feet of the
unit.
-
- 2. Installation.
a. Connect water supply to the fitting marked INLET.
b. Connect the fitting from the RO section marked DRAIN to the
main drain. Use ½" rigid or flexible tubing. Max.
flow will be 5 GPM.
c. Connect the fitting marked PRODUCT to the top tank fitting
marked PRODUCT with same size tubing as the drain.
d. Connect the storage tank(s) to the inlet of the re-pressure
pump marked PUMP INLET. Use RIGID PIPE at least 1" to avoid
any chance of a vacuum collapse.
e. Connect the fitting (1" FPT) to the household line(s)
to be serviced with RO water. It is marked TREATED WATER.
f. Connect the power lines from the control box to the above
mentioned fused supply using local code connections. Be sure
that the fuse/breaker is in the off position while making this
connection.
g. Connect the power supply for the U.V. light and Maxi Cure
to a standard 15-amp 120 volt 60 Hz 1 phase outlet.
h. Connect the three colored wires at the control box to the
matching colored wires from the tank floats at the top of the
tank. These wires are 24-volt transformer isolated control wires.
i. Connect the wires marked PUMP LEVEL to the two wires from
the lower float in the tank that prevent dry-running of the re-pressure
pump. These wires are 24-volt transformer isolated control wires.
j. Double check all connections and then proceed to start-up
and run section.
-
- 3. Start-up and run.
- a. With water OFF apply power
ONLY to the light bar on the back of the unit where the UV and
the Maxi-cure are plugged in. See g. above. DO NOT apply the
120 volt power to the system through the fuse / circuit breaker
used.
b. Unplug the UV light.
c. Refer to the instructions for the maxi-cure. When the start-up
of the maxi-cure is complete and the unit is in the service position,
OPEN the outlet of the maxi-cure by-pass valve and allow the
system to pressurize.
d. Correct any initial leaks. NOTE: The system was tested prior
to shipment and was leak-free as shipped. Some leaks may be created
during transit.
e. Please note the inlet solenoid valve to the right of the two
blue cartridge filters. Note the wires going to a coil on the
top of this valve. Turn the coil ¼ turn counter clockwise
--- there is a small lever on the coil to make this easy.
f. Water will begin to flow into the unit to rid it of air. Allow
water to flow for a few minutes.
g. Turn the coil clockwise finger tight until water flow ceases.
h. Put the switch marked ON/OFF on the side of the gray control
panel to the OFF position.
i. Turn on the 120 volt supply
j. Turn on the ON/OFF switch on the side of the gray control
box.
k. The green panel light will glow.
l. After a few moments the pump marked P1 will start.
m. As water begins to flow into the storage tank(s) adjust the
valve marked DRAIN VALVE until the flow to drain in the meter
marked DRAIN METER is equal to or 10% higher than the flow in
the meter marked PRODUCT METER.
n. Adjust the valve marked RE-CIRC. VALVE until the gauge marked
SYSTEM PRESS. Reads 150 to 220 PSI.
o. Continue adjusting the drain and re-circulation valves until
the system pressure is stable and the drain flow is equal to
or 10% higher than the product flow.
p. When water in the storage tank(s) reaches the level of the
bottom tank float, the re-pressure pump will start and draw water
from the tank(s) and then shut off when the house pressure gauge
reaches approximately 50 PSI.
q. Allow some water to flow into the system (open a house faucet)
to fill the UV chamber and bleed the system of air.
r. Plug-in the UV light and the TDS monitor. Review the monitor
instructions and set accordingly. Note the light on light for
the UV ballast.
s. Re-check the entire system for leaks and correct as needed.
-
- t. Record the following information.
This will be extremely important in the future to diagnose problems
and replace filters as needed:
1. Product flow. _________GPM
2. Drain Flow ___________GPM
3. System Pressure _______PSI
4. TDS of product water _________PPM
5. Pressure on small gage marked G1 _________PSI
6. Pressure on small gage marked G2__________PSI
7. Pressure difference G2 minus G1 ________PSI
8. Approximate temperature of water to unit ________deg. F.
-
- 4. Maintenance:
-
- 1. Add 3 drops of oil to P1
at points indicated every 2 -4 weeks.
2. When pressure difference between G2 minus G1 increases by
more than 5 PSI above the initial reading replace the filter
marked 5 MIC.
3. Check and adjust the drain and re-circulation valves daily
for the first week and then every week after that.
4. When TDS increases by more than 20% from the above with no
corresponding change in raw water TDS clean or replace the RO
element(s).
5. Replace the Cartridge marked CARBON BLOCK every 4 months
6. If water production through the product flow meter drops by
more than 15% without a reduction in inlet water temperature
or a drop in operating pressure, clean or replace the RO element(s).
- 5. Replace the UV bulb every
12 months
